(KNSI) – CentraCare is now a partner for the American Connection Corps, a program that aims to improve internet access around the country.

CentraCare president and CEO Dr. Ken Holmen says the health care group is proud to partner with the project, adding that “we have seen first-hand that inequitable access to broad-band Internet results in people not getting the care they need – including telehealth, virtual visits and online appointment scheduling.”

Several national organizations like Heartland Forward and Land O’Lakes are partnered with the connection corps project, which will focus on addressing inequities related to broadband connection in 10 states (including Minnesota) in its first two years. Fifty fellows with the corps will focus on improving digital equity by increasing access to the internet.
