(KNSI) — The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for parts of central and west central Minnesota.
Forecasters say a combination of strong west/northwest winds and low relative humidity will create critical fire weather conditions on Friday afternoon.
The warning is in effect from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Forecast data suggests wind gusts across the region could exceed 30 miles per hour at times. Minimum relative humidity values will hover around 15% to 20%.
Officials say to use caution with any open flames, as fires can spread quickly under these conditions.
