(KNSI) – Two area fire departments are opening their doors to families this weekend, with food, demonstrations and a chance to see the equipment up close.
Foley Fire and Rescue holds its annual open house Saturday, October 3rd, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Foley Fire Hall, 81 Norman Ave. S. The event is part of Fire Prevention Week.
Visitors can meet the department’s firefighters and watch a vehicle extrication demonstration, while kids can try out a fire simulator spray house. Grand Champion Meats is providing a hot dog lunch, Svihel Farms is handing out free pumpkins, and a raffle drawing is set for 12:00 p.m.
The Rice Fire Department follows with its open house Sunday, October 4th, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the fire station, 205 E. Main St.
Families can check out fire trucks and equipment, tour the station, spray a fire hose and learn about fire safety. A helicopter is also scheduled to land during the event. Pulled pork, chips, cookies and refreshments will be served.
Next week, both the St. Cloud and Sartell Fire Departments will also be opening their doors to the public for open house events.
