(KNSI) – The building of a new bridge for State Highway 24 over Interstate 94 at Clearwater will mean some traffic slowdowns during the construction process through 2027. Afterwards, there will be some new ways of navigating the area. Roundabouts will replace the traffic lights at both freeway entrance ramps and at two other intersections nearby.
Jenny Seelen with the Minnesota Department of Transportation says the roundabouts have been designed with truck traffic in mind. Overall, Hwy 24 will remain open throughout construction with one lane in each direction. Drivers should expect no shoulders, reduced speeds, lane shifts and changes to access as construction proceeds. On I-94, work will require periodic off-peak lane closures.
