(KNSI) — Family-owned home furnishings store Hennen Furniture is being acquired by HOM Furniture, one of the nation’s largest furniture retailers in the upper Midwest.

Bob Hennen founded Hennen Furniture in 1967 as a small store near St. Cloud’s Crossroads Shopping Center. Over nearly six decades, it grew into a regional retailer. A press release says HOM Furniture plans to keep the Hennen Furniture brand and preserve its local heritage and customer relationships while providing additional resources through its buying power, distribution network and nearly 900 employees.

The deal includes Hennen’s 218,000-square-foot building and its operations serving Central Minnesota. The acquisition becomes effective January 1, 2026.

“This acquisition represents an exciting opportunity to partner with another respected Minnesota family business,” said Carl Nyberg, president and CEO of HOM Furniture. “Much like our 2008 acquisition of Gabberts Design Studio & Fine Furnishings, we recognize the value of preserving established brands that have earned their communities’ trust. Hennen Furniture has built something special over nearly six decades, and we’re committed to honoring that legacy while supporting their continued growth. Hennen’s is a family business which fits well with the HOM Furniture values of commitment to our customers, our employees, and our local communities.”

HOM Furniture serves customers across Minnesota, South Dakota, North Dakota, Iowa and Wisconsin.
