(KNSI) – The Cold Spring City Council will be touring a potential site to relocate the library during the city hall remodeling on Wednesday morning.
The group will then meet in the evening to discuss whether they want to begin negotiating the terms for renting the space. Administrator Kris Dockendorf says that if the i’s are dotted and the t’s crossed, the library would likely not return to its current location at City Hall ever again. “If we can find a good site that works well for the library, we are hoping that they will be able to move out during construction and hopefully be able to stay there until the new library is built.”
Moving the library to a temporary site would need approval from both the city and the Great River Regional Library Board of Trustees. Regardless of the route it takes to get there, Dockendorf is excited about the new facility, as it will be a significant upgrade from the current location.
She stresses, “The new library would be considerably bigger. I think it would be up to the Great River Regional Library system to determine how much they want to step up the books [and] the digital media.”
The city council is scheduled to meet on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.
