(KNSI) — Wednesday, October 1st, is National Coffee With a Cop Day.

It’s a chance to meet local officers in a relaxed setting.

Waite Park Police will be at the deli inside Cash Wise starting at 9:00 a.m. The department says there is no theme or specific topic it wants to address with residents. It’s simply an opportunity to stop by and say hello at its most basic level. Any concerns can also be shared. The Waite Park Police Department already meets with residents about once per month. Coffee With a Cop Day is just a bonus.

Other area departments were asked if they had anything planned. Sartell Chief Brandon Silgjord and Sauk Rapids’ Top Cop Perry Beise said they were not observing the day with anything special. Beise joked via email that every day is a chance to have coffee with the cops, though, and encouraged residents to stop his officers and have a friendly chat.

St. Cloud Police did not respond.
