(KNSI) — The St. Cloud State University men’s hockey team is headed for the Frozen Four in Pittsburgh, and SCSU grad Amber was at Monday’s sendoff at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.

“We’re super excited, hoping they’ll show well. Wish we could be out there, but, cheering them on from home.”

Jay, who came to Monday’s big sendoff from Milaca, has been an SCSU hockey season ticket holder for the last 20 years and said he made the drive because this is such a “special thing to see these guys go and play for the national championship. Wouldn’t miss it” he says, adding, “We can’t go to Pittsburgh, but we can come here.”

At today’s sendoff at the Herb was head coach Brett Larson, St. Cloud State University President Dr. Robbyn Wacker, SCSU Athletics Director Heather Weems, and St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis. Local police and fire departments escorted the team bus from campus to St. Cloud Regional Airport.

The Huskies have to get past the Minnesota State Mankato Mavericks Thursday to play for the national title. SCSU Huskies Team Captain Spencer Meier is from Sartell.
