(KNSI) – Access to a favorite swimming spot in Quarry Park and Nature Preserve will be cut off while improvements are made.

Starting September 2nd, the trails to and around Swim Quarry Two, also known as Melrose Deep Seven, will be closed. The spot is known for having high rock formations and is 116 feet deep. It’s popular with cliff divers.

The closure is to allow the construction of a new viewing area over Quarry Two, the widening of the trails, and the building of a retaining wall to slow erosion in the area.

Access to Swim Quarry 11, better known as the family swim spot due to its sandy beach and shallower depth, will remain open.
