(KNSI) – Drivers across St. Cloud should brace for road work starting Wednesday as the city begins a summer-long street resurfacing effort touching neighborhoods on both the north and south sides.

Weather permitting, bituminous resurfacing begins June 3rd and is expected to wrap up by late July, according to the city. The work spans 49 street segments, an estimated nine miles of roadway in total.

On the north side, crews will work through the Westcliffe and Glasgow road area off Veterans Drive, the Quail Drive and Grouse Court neighborhood near Pine Cone Road, the Northway Drive area, and the grid of avenues between 3rd and 5th Streets North from 26th Avenue to 32nd Avenue.

South of downtown, the project covers a large stretch of streets and avenues between 9th and 15th Avenues South and 13th through 22nd Streets South, along with several blocks near St. Cloud State University, including 7th and 8th Avenues South running to University Drive.

The city says through traffic will be maintained throughout the project, but motorists can expect periodic minor delays and are advised to find an alternate route when possible.

Residents can confirm whether their street is affected by contacting St. Cloud Public Works at 320-255-7249 or visiting the city’s website by clicking here.
