(KNSI/Metro Source) – New data shows COVID-19 was the third leading cause of death in the U.S. in 2020.
375,000 people died of the virus in the country last year.
The National Center for Health Statistics says COVID-19 was only behind heart disease and cancer.
The CDC says about three-point-four million people died in 2020, with about eleven-percent of those deaths coming from the coronavirus.
While COVID-19 led to the overall death rate climbing almost 16-percent last year, deaths from other leading causes also saw increases of at least five percent.
