(KNSI) – A top country star is looking to make a permanent impression when he stops in Waite Park this spring.

Brantley Gilbert is bringing his Tattoos Tour to the Ledge Amphitheater on May 9th. He began making waves online in the late 2000’s with an independent album, A Modern Day Prodigal Son. Gilbert would sign with Big Machine Records in 2011, which released a deluxe edition of his second album, Halfway to Heaven.

The first two singles were “Country Must Be Country Wide” and “You Don’t Know Her Like I Do.” Both were huge successes. He won the Academy of Country Music New Male Artist award in 2013. Gilbert was writing for other stars as well at the time. He penned “Dirt Road Anthem” and “My Kinda Party” for Jason Aldean.

Gilbert’s signature rock sound has always enjoyed crossover appeal among a wide variety of audiences. He has toured with both Nickelback and Five Finger Death Punch in addition to his more traditional country tunes.

An online only presale through Ticketmaster is this Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The code is LEDGEGILBERT. The general onsale date is Friday at 10:00 a.m., either online or a the Ledge Winter Box Office inside the Waite Park Public Works building.
