(KNSI) — The Great River Regional Library’s annual Summer Reading Challenge kicks off Monday, June 8th with the theme Plant a Seed – Read.

It’s based on the farm-to-table concept. Just as a farmer plants seeds and crops grow to feed our bodies, a library grows knowledge to feed our minds.

The challenge is open to anyone from birth through 12th grade, with three age groups. There is an early learner program for ages zero to four, a kids program for ages four through sixth grade, and a teen program for grades six through 12. Kids can sign up at their local Great River Regional Library branch, either in person or  virtually, on the Beanstack app, available through a device’s app store.

Reading lists are available for kids, tweens, teens, and adults on the library’s website. Events and activities are also scheduled throughout the summer for babies, kids, and teens.

The challenge runs through August 8th.
