(KNSI) – In an attempt to catch a deadly disease in its early stages, CentraCare is offering free prostate cancer screenings later this month.

On Thursday, September 26th, from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m., men with no history of prostate cancer between the ages of 45 and 70 are invited to get a complimentary test and examination at the Coborn Cancer Center, 1900 CentraCare Circle, in St. Cloud. “Prostate cancer is a serious issue, and early detection can make all the difference,” said CentraCare Radiation Oncologist Dr. Christopher Miller. “We’re committed to providing accessible health services to our community, and this screening night is a crucial part of that effort.”

Prostate cancer is common in men. The American Cancer Society says roughly one in eight will be diagnosed with it in their lifetime. In a press release, CentraCare says early detection is key to successful treatment, and the screening night offers an opportunity for men to take proactive steps toward their health.

The tests would be done at the cancer center, which is hosting the event in conjunction with the CentraCare Urology Clinic and Laboratory Services.

Appointments must be scheduled beforehand by phone at 320-229-5100.
