(KNSI) — St. Cloud Public Works crews are starting routine maintenance on the city’s storm drain system in neighborhoods across the city.
Crews are clearing debris from pipe ends, removing built-up sediment and flushing pipes. They are also removing trees and brush that block access to the stormwater infrastructure or the flow of water.
Drivers may run into short, minor delays near active work zones, where crews are using cones and signs. The city asks drivers to use caution to protect staff.
Crews are using designated easements to reach maintenance sites in backyard areas, and heavy machinery may be seen and heard near backyard stormwater ponds and pipes. Disturbed areas will be restored and stabilized, and a separate crew may handle that work after the initial maintenance is done.
The city says the annual work helps ensure proper drainage, prevent local flooding, and protect water quality. It is expected to be finished by mid-October.
