(KNSI) — A St. Cloud tobacco shop has been ordered to hand over its license and pay a civil fine after being caught selling illegal THC products.
The St. Cloud Police Department was tipped off about illegal cannabinoid products being sold at Smoke n’ Cloud earlier this year. The department’s Community Response Team, city health inspector, and the Minnesota Department of Health’s Office of Cannabis Management executed a search warrant at the store on May 17th. According to a press release, over 32 pounds of illegal gummies were seized, testing anywhere from 35 to 120 times above the legal limit of five milligrams of THC per serving, or 50 milligrams per package.
The owner allegedly admitted to being responsible for ordering the items and acknowledged they were previously told to pull them from shelves, but told staff to continue selling them anyway.
The state Department of Health says it found additional merchandise non-compliant with state law. The release did not specify how the product violated the law but stated it is valued at several thousand dollars.
The store is no longer allowed to operate in St. Cloud.
