(KNSI)—Quarry Park and Nature Preserve will once again host the local showcase event for Kids to Parks Day.
Run by the National Park Trust, Kids to Parks Day encourages children to get outdoors and learn about the experiences that only come from being on a trail. The Quarry Park event is scheduled for May 18th from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The Stearns County Parks Department promises a variety of activities and booths to help you make the most of the experience. Attendees to the free event will have a chance to meet park deputies, learn about the solar system, and learn what caused the eclipse earlier this month. The Dr. Seuss character, The Lorax, will also make an appearance.
Prizes will be up for grabs. The public health department will help you start the 1,000 Hours Outside Challenge, and you can learn how to make pinecone bird feeders. The Soil and Water Conservation District has fun water activities in store, and Great River Greening encourages you to take the pollinator pact. Lastly, the Ellis Center will be on hand as part of its “Mental Health for Environmental Health” series.
