(KNSI) – A longtime contributor to KNSI and Leighton Broadcasting is being honored on Saturday, April 27th.
Governor Tim Walz has issued an official proclamation for Pat Ebertz Day across Minnesota. He was involved in radio from a young age in his home state of North Dakota and became an integral part of the popular Dave Ryan in the Morning show on KDWB.
Ebertz transitioned to sales here in St. Cloud with Leighton Broadcasting and was a fill-in host on KNSI, particularly for Hot Talk With The Ox. He continued to contribute to the weekly “Ox and Friends” segment until the week of his death.
Ebertz died on December 26, 2023. He had four children. Host Dan “The Ox” Ochsner told KNSI News that Ebertz was the rare person who treated everyone like family. He went on to say that when Ebertz would ask someone how they were doing that day, he truly wanted to know.
Ebertz may be the only Minnesotan who was arrested on-air in Canada. He climbed over the safety railing at Niagara Falls and held his cell phone next to the rushing water so the audience could hear it back home.
