(KNSI) – The Minnesota Department of Health is getting $3 million in funding from FEMA to help with the costs associated with the state’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout effort.
FEMA says the funding is an advance payment to reimburse some costs associated with the set-up of its three community vaccination sites in Duluth, Rochester and Minneapolis. It will also be applied toward the costs of MDH’s public information call center and the COVID-19 Vaccine Connector website.
“FEMA is committed to ensuring anyone who wants a vaccine can get one,” said Kevin M. Sligh, acting regional administrator for FEMA. “This expedited grant funding will help Minnesota fight this pandemic and expand availability of COVID-19 vaccines across the state.”
MDH is eligible for the FEMA funds under the country’s disaster declaration due to COVID-19.
