(KNSI) — Central Minnesota received some much needed rain over the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, the official total for Saturday and Sunday at St. Cloud was 1.5″.

Rain gauges elsewhere showed even more rainfall, with 1.81″ falling in Foley with pockets of over 2″ in far eastern Benton County.

We’re not done yet, according to the Twin Cities Forecast Office. There will be “multiple rounds of rain with embedded thunderstorms can be expected through Tuesday.”

The latest U.S. Drought Monitor, posted Thursday, showed all of Benton, Sherburne, the eastern third of Stearns and Wright Counties in the D3 or extreme drought category. The remainder of Stearns County showed moderate to severe drought.
