(KNSI) – St. Cloud Technical & Community College is celebrating its diamond anniversary later this month with the dedication of a new campus wing.
SCTCC is turning 75 years old this year and invites the community to the grand opening of its new advanced manufacturing center on September 27th at 1:00 p.m. The manufacturing center was paid for by a $2.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration and SCTCC. Work started on the lab in October 2022.
The programs benefiting from the space include advanced machining, computer-aided manufacturing and mechanical design, energy and electronics and welding/fabrication.
After the ribbon cutting, join SCTCC as it celebrates the start of its 75th year in education. Everyone is welcome to check out displays about the college’s history.
Throughout the academic year, SCTCC will hold celebrations with students, employees, and community members. They include two open houses, a time capsule dedication, a BrewLäsh fundraiser, and a commencement.
The college was founded in 1948 by Robert Miller with about 100 students in agriculture, business, home economics, machining, and auto mechanic classes held in high school shops and classrooms. In 1966, the current location was built, and it has expanded several times over the years. More than 3,900 students take classes today, and the school offers 90 degrees.
