St. Cloud State University to Become the First School in Minnesota to Offer Cannabis Education Certificate Program

(KNSI) — St. Cloud State University announced Wednesday it will be the first school in Minnesota to offer a certificate-based cannabis education program.

The Professional and Continuing Education division is partnering with Green Flower to deliver the curriculum. Green Flower is a California-based cannabis education company.

The non-credit certificate programs will only be open to students 18 and older.

Minnesota just became the 23rd state to allow adult use recreational marijuana for those 21 and older.

“The cannabis industry is growing at an unprecedented rate and the demand for skilled professionals is higher than ever,” SCSU President Robbyn Wacker said in a press release. “Our endeavor is to meet workforce demand to provide educated professionals in this quickly evolving industry.”

The study areas include Cannabis Agriculture and Horticulture, Compliance and Risk Management, the Business of Cannabis and Cannabis Healthcare and Medicine. The classes are online only, and students can work at their own speed, but the courses take about six months to complete.

Classes start September 6th and November 6th.
