(KNSI) — Sherburne County is included in a heat advisory issued by the National Weather Service.
Forecasters say hot and humid conditions, at least for Wednesday, will cause heat index values to go over 100 in some spots. Little relief is expected from overnight cooling as lows will remain in the 70s.
The high range forecast temperature with full sunshine for St. Cloud is 96. The one saving grace would be cloud cover. The showers and thunderstorms that blew through overnight may have lingering clouds, keeping a lid on temps. We could see 89 for a high Wednesday if there are more clouds than expected.
Thursday’s thunderstorm activity could also cause temps to be cooler than forecast.
The heat advisory is in effect from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday to 8:00 p.m. Thursday for Sherburne County and areas south of St. Cloud, including Kandiyohi, Meeker and Wright Counties. If you’re traveling, the entire Twin Cities metro area is covered up to Cambridge and down to Faribault, plus Mankato and over to Madison.
An upgrade to an excessive heat warning is possible for some areas.
