(KNSI) – A stretch of Washington Memorial Drive in St. Cloud will be shut down starting next week.

The St. Cloud Engineering Department says the road will be closed between Trunk Highway 23 and University Drive South beginning Monday, August 10th. The closure is needed for planned water service replacement work in the area.

The department says the work is expected to take about three weeks. A detour will be posted.

Drivers who use that stretch should plan for extra travel time while the work is underway.
