(KNSI) – The Benton County Sheriff’s office says a motorcyclist is dead following a crash that happened Sunday in Maywood Township.
At about 6:00 p.m., 57-year-old Ricky Lee Karsch of Rice was on a 2003 Yamaha XVS1100. He collided with a 2021 Dodge Ram hauling a boat and trailer.
The truck driver, 20-year-old Ryan Michael Renstrom, had minor injuries. Two passengers in the truck were not hurt.
Renstrom came to a complete stop before continuing south on 165th Avenue Northeast. He advanced into the intersection with 65th Street Northeast. The crossing is a two-way stop. Karsch had the right of way heading west on 65th and was unable to avoid colliding with the truck.
The motorcycle ran into the driver’s door area of the Ram pickup. The sheriff’s office was helped at the scene by the Foley Fire and Police Departments, North Memorial Ambulance, and the Minnesota State Patrol.
Karsch was unresponsive when aid arrived. He was airlifted to the hospital where he died due to injuries sustained in the crash.
