(KNSI) – The execution of a no-knock search warrant led to a standoff in a Waite Park neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon.
Officials say they attempted to arrest Brent Gregory Bartholdi in the 100-block of 2 1/2 Street North at around 12:30 when the standoff began. The 32-year-old had outstanding warrants in several counties, including Anoka, Hennepin, St. Louis, Stearns, and Wright.
The Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force was assisted by the Avon, St. Cloud, and Waite Park Police Departments, as well as the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office. In a press release, Bartholdi is described as having a history of fleeing police officers. He was also believed to have firearms with him in the home.
Multiple rounds of tear gas and pepper spray were used. A K-9 officer was sent in to find Bartholdi and neutralize any threat he might pose. Bartholdi had minor injuries from his arrest and has been cleared by doctors at St. Cloud Hospital.
He is now behind bars at the Stearns County Jail.
