(KNSI) – Stearns County is looking for companies, organizations, friends, families or other groups to help keep its roadsides free of litter through the Adopt-A-Highway program.

Volunteers have been clearing debris from area ditches since 1990. The program is meant to build good public relations between Stearns County and its residents. The program gives people involved a chance to see how much work is involved for the County in maintaining the county ditches and how people have abused these ditches in the past by littering.

The groups participating in the program will put their names on an informational sign so everyone knows who is helping keep the roadsides clean. Segments are in two-mile stretches.

Stearns County says they don’t save money in maintenance by having the program, but everyone involved gains an education.

To sign up, call 320-255-6180.
