(KNSI) – With demand for assistance at local food shelves up, this year’s Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is coming at the perfect time.

The National Association of Letter Carriers collects over 70 million pounds of fruit, pasta, soups, vegetables, and more each spring with the initiative. In the St. Cloud area, it is sponsored by Bernick’s and Short Stop and benefits the Catholic Charities and Salvation Army Food Shelves.

Helping is easy. On May 13th, just set out cans and other nonperishable food items next to your mailbox. When you get your letters for the day, the donations will be picked up.

Your assistance is greatly needed. Minnesota food shelves saw record demand in 2022, with over 5.5 million visits statewide. Roughly 20% of people rely on food donations.
