(KNSI) – Two men suffered injuries after going airborne on a motorcycle and crashing in Stearns County.
The sheriff’s office says 21-year-old Jose Luis De Deos Camacho Jr. was driving a 2009 Yamaha R6 sport bike on County Road 13, about two miles north of Melrose, at around 11:00 on Tuesday night. Deputies say 24-year-old Christofer Munoz De Jesus of Paynesville was a passenger on the back of the bike.
Investigators say Camacho Jr. went off the road, hit an approach and launched the motorcycle 25 yards. The report says it continued in the ditch for another 75 feet before coming to a rest and was believed to have rolled multiple times. The riders were thrown from or fell off the cycle at some point.
De Jesus and Camacho Jr. were rushed to Melrose Hospital and Sauk Centre Hospital. Camacho Jr. was later airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital. Both men were wearing helmets. Their current conditions weren’t released.
The crash remains under investigation.
