(KNSI) – St. Cloud State University is making an update to its fan attendance policy.
The athletics department says family members will be allowed to attend games for the winter sports season, starting January 28th.

Attendance will be limited to 150 people, per guidelines from the Minnesota Department of Health, and applies to family members of both the home and visiting teams.

Not all schools in the Minnesota State system have adopted this policy. The decision to allow family members was based on what was appropriate for the SCSU campus, students and families. Further changes to the policy may be needed, and officials with the school say they will continue to monitor COVID-19 case numbers and update fans if any more changes are needed.

In a press release, SCSU Athletics Director Heather Weems said, “St. Cloud State has managed well our COVID protocols as students have returned to campus to begin classes in spring semester. We have confidence that we can safely include families at our events and honor the important role they play in our student-athletes’ lives as supporters. We look forward to having some friendly faces in the stands and ask them to cheer loud on behalf of all our fans.”
