High School Volleyball
Sartell 3, Fergus Falls 0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-20): The Gate City Bank Match of the Week aired on the KNSI Sports Network Thursday night. The Sabres snapped a three-match conference losing streak by downing Fergus Falls in straight sets. Sartell relied on a strong service game, particularly from Aubrey Flynn and Avery Templin, who both recorded multiple aces. On the attack, Brenna McClure and Abby Haus paced Sartell in kills.
Alexandria 3, Sauk Rapids-Rice 0 (20-25, 21-25, 24-26): Lexi Helmin was the only Storm player to get to double figures in kills with 10. Ava Athman added six along with 11 blocks, an impressive total for a three-set match. Delia Gustofson and Jordyn Lee both had eight digs.
Tech 3, Apollo 0 (25-12, 25-9, 25-14)
ROCORI 3, Becker 0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-8)
Cathedral 3, Little Falls (25-20, 23-25, 25-14, 25-14): Kayla Sexton led the charge for the Crusaders with 18 kills, supported by three aces, and eight digs. Ellie Voth registered five kills and five blocks. Olivia Prom was stout defensively for Cathedral, notching 10 digs.

#1 St. Cloud Apollo 14, #8 East Grand Forks 0: The Eagles fired an amazing 49 shots on net. Green Wave keeper Parker Nolte was able to stop 35 of them.
#2 Alexandria 1, #7 Sauk Rapids-Rice 0: Alex advances thanks to a narrow victory over the Storm. The Cardinals’ Jack Carlson notched the only goal of the contest, assisted by Cole Haabala. Storm keeper Josh Tapio stopped 18 shots in the losing effort.

8A East sub-section
#1 Cathedral 7, #5 Melrose 0: Joseph Torborg and Jack Stang scored two goals each. Blake Newiger was the only Crusader with multiple assists (2). Cathedral plays again Saturday against #2 Central Minnesota Christian.

8A East sub-section
#1 Cathedral 8, #4 Walker-Hackensack-Akeley 0: Hope Schueller got a hat trick and then some. She registered four goals on 12 shots for the Crusaders. Kiera Green, Madison Wenner, McKayla Balfanz, and Nora Simones also tallied goals.
#2 St. John’s Prep 2, #3 Melrose 1: Jaden Perry and Roberta Islas scored for St. John’s. They’ll meet Cathedral Saturday morning at the Whitney Complex in north St. Cloud.
