(KNSI) – Waite Park is celebrating its police department with a virtual ride-along during its second annual Faith and Blue event.
The ride-along will be done over the police department’s Twitter account. WPPD Community Outreach Specialist Alicia Mages will be communicating with the public.
“I’ll be on there putting information about what kind of calls we’re on and what we’re doing. And people can post questions if they want and I’ll answer them as I can without divulging too much information.”
She talked about what followers can expect.
“I just want to give them a little sneak peek into you know what kind of situations the officers deal with. It’s hard to know because sometimes during the day there’s different situations versus at night. There’s some days that are a lot quieter and there’s days that they’re running from call to call.”
The ride-along is Friday, October 7th, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. On Saturday, October 8th, the WPPD will host a Live PD event where kids and residents can come out to Community Park Pavillion. The event includes tours of squad cars, demonstrations and learning what’s on an officer’s belt.
