(KNSI) – Albany finished 3-3 at the Babe Ruth World Series in Virginia last week.
The tournament consists of pool play and teams are divided into either the championship or consolation brackets depending on their results. Albany was placed into the bottom bracket due to a tiebreaker.
The players will become very familiar with coach Grant Johnson. He was just hired as skipper of the Albany High School varsity squad. Johnson has been waiting a dozen years for the job.
“[I] started in the junior high ranks. Moved up to 9th grade baseball for four years and then had the varsity assistant position for four years.”
Johnson says the high school team has a solid foundation in place.
“We’ve had a great program ever since I can remember and we pump out a lot of just great players. The kids are really dedicated. The kids are really hard workers. They buy into what we teach them and it’s showed on the baseball diamond.”
The 15U Huskies made the Top Four in 2018 and 2019. This year’s results are below.
