(KNSI) – CentraCare is now offering the Pfizer COVID vaccine for young children at its St. Cloud locations. The inoculations are available as of Tuesday morning. Vaccines will be offered during primary care visits or they can be scheduled:
· Call CentraCare Connect at 320-200-3200 to schedule an appointment at MOST CentraCare locations.
· Call the below numbers for appointments at Willmar Main and New London Clinic CentraCare locations:
– Willmar Main: 320-231-5000, ext. 48600
– New London: 320-354-2222
The vaccine for kids ages six months until five years old is a three-dose regimen. The first two shots are taken three weeks apart. The follow-up dose is given at least two months later.
CentraCare requires a parent or guardian to be present when the vaccines are given and to offer affirmative consent before inoculation.
The organization concedes children are not at great risk from COVID-19 but CentraCare warns that they still transmit the disease to other, potentially more vulnerable family members.
