(KNSI) – The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northwestern Stearns County and southern Todd County until 5:45 PM.
As of 5:12 PM, the storm was located about five miles north of Sauk Centre and was moving northeast at 40 mph.
Forecasters say the storm is capable of producing golf ball size hail and wind gusts up to 60 mph. Law enforcement reported golf ball size hail in Glenwood at 4:40 PM.
People and animals caught outdoors could be injured, and the storm could damage roofs, siding, windows, vehicles and trees.
The weather service says the storm will be near Grey Eagle around 5:25 PM and Swanville around 5:35 PM. Other communities in the path include Little Sauk, Long Prairie Airport, North Shore and Burtrum.
Anyone outdoors should move inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows.
