(KNSI) – Saint Cloud Norsemen forward Ryan O’Neill claimed the scoring title on the last night of the regular season and has parlayed that into additional honors. O’Neill has been named the North American Hockey League’s Most Valuable Player and selected as a member of the First Team.

O’Neill amassed 80 points, including 30 goals, in just 57 games during the regular season. In the team’s first-round playoff series win against Bismarck, he chipped in four assists.

Hoping to lead the Norsemen to a Robertson Cup trophy for the first time beforehand, O’Neill will continue his playing days this fall at the NCAA Division I level for the University of Saint Thomas.

Also selected for NAHL First Team was Saint Cloud defenseman Evan Murr. He is committed to Mankato to join the Mavericks. Minnesota State finished as national runners-up, losing to Denver in the NCAA title game last month.
