(KNSI) — Stearns County is asking for input from residents as it updates its All-Hazard Mitigation Plan.
The Emergency Management Department is updating the plan, and officials say a crucial part is public input. The plan identifies threats and hazards that the county faces, such as tornadoes, chemical spills, or flooding, and action steps that can be taken before and after. A press release from the county says the plan is comprehensive, including municipalities, townships, school districts, electric cooperatives, healthcare, and watershed districts.
Emergency management officials ask that the short online survey be completed by Friday, March 25th, 2022. The survey gathers information from each person’s perspective about risks the county faces, their experience with disasters and emergencies, and ideas on what action steps can be taken to assist with mitigation efforts. In addition to the survey, Stearns County will be announcing public meetings in June for residents of the county to share their feedback and provide input into the 2022 update of the All-Hazard Mitigation Plan.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency requires the All-Hazard Mitigation Plan to be updated at least once every five years.
