(KNSI) — A 38-year-old man from Dassel was seriously injured after a hunting accident Friday afternoon.
The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a man with a gunshot wound about 2:40 p.m. Crews from the sheriff’s office, Dassel Rescue, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Mayo Ambulance, and Life Link III all responded to the scene in Kingston Township. A press release from the sheriff’s office says Michael Hendrickson had been shot in the leg, and a tourniquet had been applied to his leg to control the bleeding.
He was airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital for treatment.
Officials say the initial investigation shows it was an accidental discharge of Hendrickson’s gun while he was climbing into his tree stand.
