(KNSI) – A house about two miles south of Melrose sustained damage after a fire started in the upstairs.
Firefighters were called to the home in the 33000-block of County Road 30 in Grove Township around 11 a.m. on Friday. The caller said they could smell smoke, and after getting outside, they could see smoke coming from the roof vents.
The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office says deputies saw smoke coming from the vents but no open flames. Melrose and Freeport Fire Department were called and were able to contain the fire to the attic area. The home’s upstairs bathroom sustained significant damage.
The homeowner was not home at the time of the fire. No one was injured in the fire.
