(KNSI) – Two people, including a teenager, were shot during an exchange of gunfire in St. Cloud on Thursday night.
The St. Cloud Police Department says the shooting occurred near Go For It Gas in the 1000-block of 9th Avenue South around 10 p.m.
Police found evidence of a shooting but no victims. A short time, later police were called to the hospital for a 21-year-old St. Cloud man suffering multiple gunshot wounds. Not long after that, a 16-year-old from Sauk Rapids showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound. Police say the injuries were non-life-threatening.
Investigators say the incident started with an argument inside of Go For It Gas. After the argument, a 32-year-old man from Sauk Rapids and the 16-year-old got into a vehicle to leave. The other half of the argument, including two other males and the 21-year-old shooting victim, left the store and stood by their vehicle in the parking lot.
As the 32-year-old’s vehicle left the parking lot, someone inside allegedly fired several rounds at the other group hitting the 21-year-old. Police say a man with the 21-year-old victim then ran after the vehicle and began shooting back as the vehicle fled. Investigators say the teenager was hit by one of the bullets.
The 32-year-old driver and the 21-year-old accused of returning fire have been arrested and are being held in the Stearns County Jail awaiting formal charges. Police also found two handguns suspected of being involved in the shootings.
This case remains active and is currently being investigated by the St. Cloud Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Unit.
