(KNSI) – The St. Cloud Area School District is forming a Nordic ski team.
St. Cloud Apollo and Tech High Schools will compete together during the 21-22 school year.
The team is being formed because the agreement between Sauk Rapids-Rice Public Schools and District 742 for a Nordic ski team has been dissolved by mutual agreement. According to District 742, the schools parted ways to allow each program to grow its teams.
The team will be known as the St. Cloud Crush. The St. Cloud Area School District says the Crush co-op teams are being coordinated to keep burgeoning activities at both high schools and to be competitive in conference-level competition. The schools say having co-op teams will allow for varsity, junior varsity, and freshman teams in each sport.
Apollo and Tech High School already announced five other sports competing as co-op teams under the St. Cloud Crush name. The sports include girls tennis, girls softball, girls basketball, boys baseball, and boys tennis. Before the 2021-2022 school year, District 742 had six co-op teams in gymnastics, wrestling, boys and girls hockey, and boys and girls lacrosse.
