(KNSI) – A man has been charged in Benton County for allegedly violating a no-contact order and hitting the woman who filed that order against him.
Jeffrey Dewayne Smith, 34, had his initial appearance in Benton County Court on Wednesday on two felony domestic assault charges and one violation of a domestic abuse no-contact order charge.
On July 27th, Foley police and Benton County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home in Foley, and there they met a woman who had a mark on her nose and a towel on her face. She told authorities that Smith had hit her while she was sleeping.
Police say the woman has a no-contact order against Smith that bars him from contacting her or going within three blocks of her home. Smith denied hitting her.
