(KNSI) – COVID-19 cases continue to stay relatively low as 648 Minnesotans tested positive for COVID over the holiday weekend and this workweek, according to the latest Minnesota Department of Health data.
The state saw 12 more deaths due to COVID since Saturday, July 3rd, including one Wright County resident in their 70s. The five-county St. Cloud area only had 56 newly confirmed cases of COVID this week.
This week’s test positivity rate remains low at 1.02 percent.
Roughly 100 people across the state are currently hospitalized for COVID.
As for vaccinations, Stearns County leads the area with 57 percent of its 12-and-older population who have received at least one vaccine dose — that’s nearly 77,000 county residents who have gotten vaccinated. Benton County continues to have one of the lowest vaccination rates in the state, with only 39 percent of its eligible population vaccinated as of Wednesday.
