(KNSI) – A man who police say shot and killed himself after a highspeed chase from Big Lake to Elk River has been identified.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says 28-year-old Ramos Avieda was seen by police driving in Big Lake on Saturday afternoon and was wanted in connection to a shooting in downtown Minneapolis earlier that day.
Police say the Brooklyn Center man went east on Highway 10, and after reaching Elk River, police say, Avieda shot at officers.
The BCA says he crashed off Highway 10 near Proctor Avenue, and when police approached the car, they say he was dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
