(KNSI) – Six teenagers were hurt in a two-vehicle crash in Benton County, including a 16-year-old boy who was seriously injured when he was thrown from a car.
The Benton County Sheriff’s Office says it received the report at about 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, November 1st. The crash happened at the intersection of 15th Avenue Northeast and 125th Street Northeast in Graham Township.
According to investigators, a 17-year-old boy driving a black 2007 Ford Mustang was heading north on 15th Avenue. Deputies say they found evidence that he slowed as he approached the intersection but drove through the stop sign and into the path of a white 2007 Chevy Impala heading west on 125th Street. The front of the Impala hit the passenger side of the Mustang.
The sheriff’s office says traffic on 125th Street has the right of way at the intersection.
The teen who was thrown from the car was one of four passengers in the Mustang, along with two other 16-year-old boys and a 17-year-old boy. All five people in the Mustang were taken by ambulance to CentraCare-St. Cloud Hospital.
The driver of the Impala, a 16-year-old girl who was alone in the car, also reported injuries. She was released to her parents at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation. Rice police and fire, Sauk Rapids police, the Minnesota State Patrol and Mayo Ambulance assisted at the scene.
