(KNSI) – With the midterm election just days away, the state’s two major political parties are bringing their campaigns to central Minnesota in a last push for votes.
Republican Party of Minnesota officials and statewide Republican candidates will stop in Waite Park Friday as part of a five-day bus tour across the state. The Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party will follow with a rally in St. Cloud Saturday morning.
The Republican stop is set for 12:45 p.m. on Friday, October 30th, at the party’s office at 62 10th Avenue South in Waite Park. The party says the tour is meant to connect with voters.
The GOP tour starts Thursday with stops in Duluth, Hermantown, Bemidji and Moorhead. Friday’s route also includes Baxter, Alexandria, Elk River and Stillwater. The bus heads to Owatonna, Rochester, Winona and Hastings Saturday, then Glencoe, Willmar, Marshall, Worthington and Mankato Sunday, before wrapping up Monday in Anoka and Blaine.
The DFL bus will be at 1725 West St. Germain Street in St. Cloud at about 9:00 a.m. Saturday, October 31st. Attorney General Keith Ellison, Secretary of State Steve Simon, state auditor candidate Zack Filipovich and lieutenant governor candidate Ben Schierer are expected to attend, along with DFL Party Chair Richard Carlbom.
The St. Cloud event is a rally and the kickoff for a round of door knocking. The DFL says its tour will reach every congressional district in the state, with candidates, volunteers and supporters working to get people to the polls.
According to the DFL, more than 419,000 Minnesotans have already voted early, about 50% more than at the same point in the 2022 midterm election.
Election Day is Tuesday, November 3rd.
