Former Minnesota State Trooper Sentenced to 27 Years for Producing Child Sexual Abuse Videos

(KNSI) — A former Minnesota State Trooper will spend 27 years in federal prison for producing and distributing videos of himself sexually abusing a child.

Jeremy Francis Plonski was sentenced Tuesday to 27 years, followed by 15 years of supervised release.

Court documents show Plonski produced 23 videos between April and October of 2023. He was wearing his State Patrol uniform in some of them. He later distributed videos of the abuse through a social media app. Plonski pleaded guilty on October 8th, 2025.

U.S. Attorney Daniel Rosen says the defendant took an oath to protect the public but instead committed one of the most abhorrent offenses imaginable. State Patrol Chief Colonel Christina Bogojevic chimed in, adding that no badge, title, or position places anyone above the law. Plonski was fired by the State Patrol.

FBI Minneapolis Special Agent in Charge Christopher Dotson says he hopes the outcome gives the victim and their family a sense of peace and justice.

Plonski joined the State Patrol in 2022. He was originally charged with a single count of producing child pornography, and the criminal complaint was sealed to protect the identity of the victim. He was held in the Sherburne County Jail while the case was pending. The FBI investigated with help from the BCA and the Shakopee Police Department.
