UPDATE: Severe Thunderstorm Warning For Stearns, Benton Counties Extended

(KNSI) – The National Weather Service in the Twin Cities has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for southwestern Benton County and Stearns County until 12:15 p.m.

According to the weather service, at 11:01 a.m. a severe thunderstorm was located near Avon, or 17 miles northwest of St. Cloud, moving east at 30 mph. Radar indicates quarter-size hail.

Communities in the path include Albany, Farming, Avon, St. Wendel, Collegeville, St. Stephen, St. Joseph, Sartell, Sauk Rapids, Mayhew Lake and St. Cloud.

Forecasters say people in the warned area should seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows.
