(KNSI) — The list of candidates for Minnesota House District 13A has expanded as Tami Stanger announced she will run for the seat currently held by Speaker Lisa Demuth.

Submitted by Tami Stanger
According to her campaign announcement, Stanger brings more than 30 years of healthcare leadership experience to the race, specializing in strategic planning, quality assurance, and process improvement. She says those skills have prepared her to address what she calls inefficiencies in state government.
Stanger is also a community volunteer, serving on several local boards, including the Paynesville Area School Board, River Lakes Hockey board, and Paynesville Area Chamber of Commerce. She currently sits on the Minnesota Chapter board of the American Society of Clinical Pathology. She holds a master’s degree in management from Minnesota Southwest State University.
In her announcement, Stanger says her healthcare experience has given her firsthand insight into how state regulations affect residents. She points to declining behavioral health resources, workforce layoffs, and staff burnout as consequences of Minnesota policies.
Stanger says she wants to reverse the trend of young people and businesses leaving Minnesota. She’s calling for strategic planning focused on reducing tax burden while maintaining essential services, and says raising taxes or shifting costs to counties isn’t the answer.
She’s urging less partisan division, saying lawmakers need to work together on behalf of Minnesota residents.
Others vying for the spot are William Ben Bugbee and Tanja Goering.
District 13A includes Cold Spring, Kimball, Paynesville, Roscoe, and the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John’s University.
