(KNSI) — Some scary moments aboard a Delta Airbus A330 from Minneapolis to Amsterdam.
Shortly after takeoff on Sunday afternoon, the flight deck radioed the tower to say that the aircraft had experienced an issue with flaps shortly after takeoff. The flaps are movable surfaces on the back of an airplane wing, and depending on the aircraft, they help the plane make more lift. They’re also used to help a plane slow down for landing.
The flight had to wait for the longest runway at the airport which is more than 11,000 ft long. It landed safely around 5:30 p.m.
The airport’s fire department was called out for standby and to watch the brakes. Emergency radio traffic said the brakes were glowing orange but no smoke or fire was seen.
There were 286 Souls on board. No injuries were reported.
